STEM-CLEAR Overview
Our efforts with STEM-CLEAR will create contextualized learning pathways and help STEM-X students, or those in disciplines that have not traditionally been labeled as STEM, acquire data and computation skills tailored to their discipline. This will enable them to pursue STEM concentrations and rewarding careers in an evolving job market. Our model focuses on 15 majors across 3 STEM-X disciplines in the colleges of Applied Arts, Health Professions, and Fine Arts and Communication.

To achieve our goals, we employ a three-pronged strategy consisting of the following programmatic components: Contextualized Curriculum, Student Support and Faculty Training. The three synergistic elements of STEM-CLEAR are grounded in evidence-based research on STEM education and broadening participation. Additionally, research initiatives will generate new knowledge about engaged student learning at HSIs, broadening participation in STEM and diversifying the workforce. The multi-disciplinary project team, represented by all seven academic colleges and institutional leadership, and the planned collaboration with existing STEM organizations at TXST will ensure sustainable institutional transformations.
